And that's no joke.

Buffy crossovers your guilty little pleasure?

On Fanfiction.net her name is Rali, on Twisting the Hellmouth her name is Jennifer. Whatever her penname, regardless of what site you visit, she is good. Her prose is lyrical and appropriate to whatever crossover she is doing, and she's done quite a bit.

Her latest is a Sin City tale that just begs for a lone sax wailing forlornly in the background. Marv's voice is clear and true.

The newest installment in her Lord of the Rings series I eagerly await with baited breath.

Go. Find her. Read everything. You can thank me with chocolate.

Happy Thanksgiving!

To those who celebrate it and a happy Thursday to those who don't!

15th-Nov-2007 02:32 pm - No, I am, in point of fact, not dead.
X-mas
Just a quick note to say hey. I was recently recalled to the fact that it's been about a year since I've been heard from. This last year has been a little crazy- the baby came early, the cancer surgery, the cancer treatment, the complete funneling of all our money into medical bills the health insurance failed to cover, loss of internet, loss of cable, loss of hair... The list just keeps going. I'm trying to get back into the things I love and miss and reconnect with all my friends, it just seems harder than it should be to make myself even get out of my pjs (which I am still wearing this late in the afternoon) and off the couch. I'm trying to do better.

Hugs and kisses. Talk to you all soon, I hope.

While skimming back over my flist yesterday, I caught Ascending the Throne by [info]shinodabear. This fic should be read, if not for the imagery and the tale itself (which is very good), then solely for Drusilla's voice in it. It's rare to find someone able to capture her inner voice in such a real and believable way. The author has it listed as a Dru/Illyria pairing, but it's not the kind of "pairing" you'd expect. And she raises a couple of very interesting questions, which I really can't verbalize or it would give the whole thing away.

It's good. Go read it.

24th-Aug-2006 11:20 pm - 3 Truths, 3 Lies Meme
X-mas

I was tagged by [info]empresspatti to tell 6 statements about myself, 3 of them the truth and 3 of them lies. Here goes:

1. I once got to completely demolish a vehicle as a lesson for a job course.

2. I never learned how to drive a stick-shift.

3. I once got up and walked right out of a job in the middle of the day.

4. In high school, I was taken from school via ambulance. Twice.

5. My first job was in a fast food restaurant.

6. I once had a job as the 'trophy girl' for a race car track.

I don't know who else has done this (I'm probably one of the last ones to do so) so feel free to say I've tagged you if you haven't done it. :~)

Isis
Indeed, you are 83% erudite, 75% sensual, 37% martial, and 62% saturnine.
This Egyptian supreme Goddess is certainly the most influential deity on subsequent cultures. She was the ideal figure of womanhood, usually compared with the Greek Goddess Demeter or her Roman version, Ceres.

Isis was one element of a Holy Trinity, the remaining two figures being her brother and husband Osiris and their heroic son Horus. She was the Goddess of Magic for her brilliance, as well as the Goddess of Love because of her tenacious devotion.

She is often shown with wings, curving to caress coffins and sarcophagi of many a king. In certain papyri she is shown with her falcon wing headdress, covering her ears. One of her sacred symbols is the sistrum, a musical instrument that was believed to ward off evil spirits. Isis' sistrum was carved bearing the image of a cat and was representative of the Moon.

Isis was the High Priestess and an omnipotent magician as well as the only being ever to discover the secret name of Ra. She invariably carries the ankh, the symbol for eternal life. Her name is, by the rules of numerology, adding up to the number “2” and she just so happens to be depicted on the tarot card “Key 2 – The High Priestess”.

Did you know... )

At least my electric co-op newsletter is useful for something.

The camping trip )

I do feel much better now than I did before we left though. Hopefully, I'm over the first trimester ickiness and my OB won't yell at me at my next appt.

I finally got my crowns put in today. The dentist attempted to put them in last week but after two needles I could still feel- very painfully, I might add- the scraping and polishing they were doing after the temporaries came off. The dentist said they were going to have to cut off a small piece of gum that had grown up in the gap between the bottom of the temporary and my normal gum line and he couldn't do that if they couldn't get me numb. I agreed wholeheartedly with that so he put the temps back on and I rescheduled.

Today I had no problems and everything went pretty well. The only glitch was the, again two needles full, numbing agent started wearing off and I caught a little bit off the pain from trimming my gums back down. And it didn't smell real pleasant either- like burning electrical wires, which is strange. I was glad to be out of the chair after an hour and a half of trying to keep my jaw opened as wide as possible. I think I'll be waiting until after the baby is born before going back to have the fillings put in; this was more than enough of a headache to last me for awhile.

And a big thank you to everyone for their congrats on my new pretty. I had to stare in disbelief when I got it. Surely they made a mistake somewhere. Not that I'm going to go around complaining that I got a runner up award. It's not why I started writing, or why I started putting my little scribblings out there, and it's not why I'll continue doing it (if my muse ever gets off her butt), but it is still pretty neat- and probably the only one I'll ever get- so I'm happy.

First, thank you to everyone who sent birthday wishes. With the amount of goodwill and love sent my way I'd have thought things would've gone a little more smoothly. Unfortunately, that Sunday started an exciting cycle of migraines that finally let up yesterday. *WARNING: Heavy levels of sarcasm were used in the following two sentences. What fun was had by all! I can't wait to do that again and I know the family agrees.

During the peaks, I was ready to gouge my own eyes out and burst my own eardrums just to make all the noise (the wind dared to blow) and the light (damned life-sustaining Sun) go away. During the troughs, I managed to stagger around the house like a week old kitten trying to get things done- low-grade headache firmly in place.

Bitchy birthday ranting )

After doing a bit of yelling myself, I had to go inside and lay down as (surprise!) the migraine came back.

Mother's Day )

Big diva kisses to you all. *MWAHH!*
